I (Lars) went and passed my VHF radio exams yesterday, important step towards a safer trip on the water. To use VHF you need to have a Radio certificate, which Søfartstyrelsen issuer in Denmark. I took an online course in Danish through VHF skolen, but you can probably find an English version out there somewhere. It is very useful to know how to operate VHF, in an emergency and that you can call any ship along the way if you need help or let them know you are there. Especially if you are in a kayak!!

I also got some new toys, an Icom IC-M91D VHF radio and an Fast Finder 220 PLB. I’ll tell you more later.
